People would travel from very far in order to both trade here on the land as well as bury their dead. Historians and archaeologists have estimated around 7,500 Native Americans visited this complex each year.

Visitors to the state park can meander the paved pathways and climb up to the temple mound top - the same place Native Americans stood over 500 years ago.

There is even a museum on-site, which offers exhibits, artifacts, and tons of information about both the coastal landscape and the inhabitants of the area many years back.
