Warning: If you’re easily frightened or have a history of coulrophobia (the official name for a fear of clowns), just go ahead and find something else to read. This will not be your cup of tea.
For more than a year now, a creepy clown has been spotted in Southwest Florida, especially around Naples and Fort Myers. He goes by the name Wrinkles, and he has been featured in lots of local media since his arrival, and recently even by The Washington Post.
His hauntingly empty eyes and droopy frown went viral when a creepy video surfaced of the clown seemingly lurking under a child's bed. The video has a distinctly hokey feel, but it's pretty creepy nonetheless.
Perhaps most disturbingly, he has been known to advertise his services as a form of behavioral modification for the parents of difficult children. The funny thing about Wrinkles is that he obviously knows he's scary, and at the same time doesn't see himself as a bad guy. He's quite a complicated character.
Here's a map of Wrinkles sightings, according to the Google+ page devoted to the clown. This group is present across many social media platforms, seeking to share photos and stories of Wrinkles encounters.
