I have to admit, I am a caffeine fiend. My favorite way of getting my fix (until they introduce the IV drip) is through a delicious cup of rich, hot coffee. Or iced coffee, as the weather calls for most of the year here in Florida. These awesome Florida coffee shops will satisfy your caffeine craving in the most delightful way and have you addicted in no time. They’re so cool, you won’t even mind.
1. Axum Coffee, Winter Garden
Axum Coffee gives 100% of its profits (meaning everything left over after rent, taxes, employee salaries, etc.) to help fight poverty and injustice around the world. This is a cup of coffee that can really make you feel good. What an incredible concept.
2. Buddy Brew Coffee, Tampa
People rave about the simple but delicious food offerings of grilled cheese or avacado and poached eggs on toast just as much as the fresh-roasted coffee. Win-win.
3. Bold Bean Coffee Roasters, Jacksonville
This stuff may be hipster crack, but it's ok; they're the good kind of hipsters. They brew coffee that'll make you weak in the knees.
4. Downtown Credo, Orlando
Credo is another non-profit coffee shop in Florida, and this one runs on pay-what-you-can donations. I'm really hoping this idea will take off, because the only thing I can imagine being better than coffee is coffee that saves the world.
5. Cuban Coffee Queen, Key West
Legend has it the owner of this little shop in Key West learned everything they know, from cafe con leches to Cuban sandwiches, from a mysterious stranger. Just like Key West, this place is quirky, charming, and fun.
6. Subculture Coffee, West Palm Beach and Delray Beach
Subculture serves up small batch fresh-roasted coffee. They like to change things up often, because "coffee is seasonal, like any other fruit or vegetable." Just much more addictive.
7. Craft Kafe, St. Petersburg
Everything is health-conscious but full of flavor at this unique cafe. They have a ton of gluten-free goodies, and fresh-squeezed juices. And, of course, the coffee is out of this world.
8. RedEye Coffee, Tallahassee
RedEye is yet another coffee shop focused on humanitarian efforts. It was founded by a local church as a creative way to reach out to the community and support many charitable endeavors. They also make delicious and creative drinks, such as their bubbly nitrogen-infused iced coffee.
9. Felicitous Coffee & Tea House, Tampa
This adorable shop was started by a former USF student who felt there was a void in the community that could only be filled by an independent coffee house. The laid-back ambiance, tasty food, and hand-crafted beverages make this the perfect spot for a study session or meet-up with friends.
10. Alaska Coffee Roasting Co., North Miami
At first it seems like an odd name for a coffee shop in Florida, but this company originally started in Fairbanks over two decades ago. Coffee is roasted fresh on-site and the wide variety of high quality beans will impress even the biggest coffee snob.
11. The Kookaburra, St. Augustine
This unique shop in the nation's oldest city serves up ethically sourced and expertly roasted hand-crafted espresso drinks with an Australian flair (and pies).
12. Sweet Marlays' Coffee, Daytona Beach
This locally owned shop in Daytona has some of the best homemade pastries and desserts in town, and they have their own organic, fair trade blends roasted just for them. You can tell from this photo of special-order cakes (that's right, cakes!) that their bakers know what they're doing.
