There are some restaurants that offer up an experience so much more than just delicious food. Take Bob’s Train in Florida as a great example. This Sarasota hidden gem is a restaurant situated inside four actual train cars! This family-owned and operated restaurant is truly a delight and offers a train and circus-themed dining excursion like no other. All aboard!
Thanks to owner Robert Horne, Sarasota residents can visit Bob’s Train and dine inside an actual retired Ringling train car.
In fact, Bob’s Train is the only place in the state where you can dine in a privately-owned circus train, which is why so many people from all over come to grab a meal here.
While the restaurant may be a bit hard to find (GPS isn’t always the most reliable for this address) you’ll be able to spot the train sitting on old tracks in an old yard.
There are tons of artifacts from the Ringling Circus’ history in Sarasota within this restaurant, from photos of Marilyn Monroe on top of an elephant to John Ringling North’s gold fountain pen.
Bob Horne himself plays a huge role in the day-to-day of the restaurant, preparing dishes like kielbasa, Reubens, salad, burgers, or grilled brie sandwiches.
If you happen to run into Bob, you’ll be in luck, because not only is he a fantastic cook, but he also knows pretty much everything there is to know about both Sarasota and the Ringling Circus’ history.
