There’s nothing we love more than supporting local small businesses, especially if it means we get to chow down on some delicious food at the same time. This hidden gem in Fort Myers is getting attention for some very creative dishes. If you like to explore Florida’s unique culinary options, this restaurant is a must-try.
King's Kitchen is located at 2150 W 1st Street in Fort Myers. It has only been open at this new location since October of 2016, but locals might remember its former location inside a Sunoco gas station.
Through sheer hard work and creativity, King's Kitchen's owner was able to move past the gas station food image and prove his potential, which eventually led to success and a new location.
When you visit the new location, you will find a small space decorated in an industrial style, complete with aluminium paneled walls. The restaurant itself isn't flashy, but that allows the food to take center stage.
The menu is full of clever concoctions that border on bizarre, but don't be afraid to try something new. One of the most interesting creations is the Barbecue Sundae, which consists of barbecue and mashed potatoes in a sundae glass, topped with gravy. It's quite a sight to behold.
The wackiness continues with dishes like this candied bacon appetizer and burgerritos, a burger wrapped in a burrito and covered in cheese sauce.
The squid ink pasta on the menu might raise a few eyebrows, but by all accounts it tastes absolutely incredible.
Then, there are several dishes with Latin American influence, like sliders made with fried plantains instead of bread, empanadas, and pastelon (Puerto Rican lasagna), and Asian-inspired dumplings and pork belly pasta.
There are also plenty of dishes for the less adventurous types, like fried chicken, burgers, and tacos.
There truly is something for everyone at this unique eatery.
