In 1948, the generous contribution of Karl and Madira Bickel bestowed upon the state a significant archaeological treasure: the mound and its encompassing property. The centerpiece of the site is the Madira Bickel Mound, an ancient ceremonial mound that dates back over 2,000 years.
Its impressive dimensions reveal a base measuring 100 by 170 feet, with a towering height of 20 feet.
