We love searching for treasure at antique stores and exploring the Sunshine State, so why not combine the two? This awesome road trip will take you to some of Florida’s best antique stores and restaurants plus a relaxing B&B, all in one awesome weekend. Sounds fun, right? So what are we waiting for? Let’s get started:
Here's the basic route for our trip. Of course, we don't know where you'll be starting from, but our trip will consist of a three-and-a-half-hour loop in Central Florida.
You can choose whatever stops work for you, but you'll definitely want to include Mount Dora on your trip. We know you might be traveling from the other side of the state, so we're recommending a lovely bed and breakfast for your trip. If you plan accordingly, you can break up the trip however you like.
Grandview Bed & Breakfast, Mount Dora
This beautiful inn is housed in a lovingly restored 1906 home with an original windmill. Not only is the home decorated with antiques, it's also located just a short walk from the shops of downtown Mount Dora, which include many fabulous antique stores.
Renninger's Flea Market and Antique Center, Mount Dora
Renninger's Twin Markets are a must-see in Mount Dora for any antique lover. You could easily devote an entire day to exploring the 117-acre property.
Goblin Market Restaurant, Mount Dora
You're bound to get hungry doing all of this shopping, so make sure you plan a trip to one of Mount Dora's incredible estaurants and cafes. For the foodies out there, we recommend The Goblin Market. This eclectic eatery features upscale cuisine from around the world and an elegant yet cozy environment.
Adjectives Antiques, Altamonte Springs
Adjectives features 50,000 square feet of unique antiques and vintage treasures from more than 100 artists and artisans from around the world.
Orange Tree Antiques Mall, Winter Park
Our next stop is the nearby town of Winter Park is one of Central Florida's best antique stores, with almost 150 dealers. Go on a treasure hunt through tens of thousands of finds, including everything from Victorian to Mid-Century Modern.
Yellow Dog Eats, Gotha
Next, we'll be heading south to Gotha, because we can't miss out on this little gem along the way. Yellow Dog Eats in Windermere is located within a historic building, decorated with vibrant, kitschy decor. The atmosphere is fun and laid-back, and the food is out of this world. The barbecue, sandwiches, and American classics here are served with creative energy and lots of love. You'll have plenty of energy to keep searching for treasures after a visit to YDE.
The Barn Antiques, Lake Alfred
Our next stop is only open seasonally, so if you're planning your anitques trip for the summer, you'll have to postpone your visit to The Barn. Luckily, however, Lake Alfred is still home to other antique stores, so you can still include it on your trip if you choose. The Barn, however, is a very special place, so you might want to come back in the fall when it opens again. This sprawling family-owned antiques center has been bringing unique furniture and small items from England to rural Polk County for over 30 years.
