Talk to 20-somethings from anywhere in the country, and they’ll reminisce about Beanie Babies, Full House, and gel pens, but these ’90s fads have an extra special place in the hearts of Florida kids.
While kids up north grabbed their sleds and had snowball fights on Snow Days (I'm guessing), we spent Hurricane Days partying or fighting boredom indoors, with or without power.
I don't know what y'all called them, but these misting fans were introduced in 1993 and were an immediate hit due to our endless summers.

So maybe rollerblading got big everywhere in the '90s, but I doubt anyone picked it up with as much zeal as Florida. In fact, it's still got a pretty good foothold in South Florida.

All the girls got that Baywatch Blonde hair (or ended up with brassy orange locks) thanks to this hair lightener popular with kids too young or too lazy to really dye their hair. The real dye-hards, though, would just bleach the crap out of it.
Of course, these superstars were loved by preteens everywhere in the '90s, but they started in Orlando, FL, in 1995. Other '90s bands that sprouted from Florida include the Backstreet Boys, Matchbox Twenty, and Limp Bizkit.

I know it seems like Disney's business is always booming, but the '90s were an especially great time to be a kid living near Disney World. There were so many classic Disney movies made in the '90s, including The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mulan, Aladdin, and Tarzan.
Most Florida kids in the '90s had been to Disney more than a few times, so it was a nice change of scenery when new parks started opening in Orlando, such as Disney's Animal Kingdom in 1998, Universal in 1990, and Islands of Adventure in 1999.
