Recent data from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Audubon Florida have estimated that even after recent hurricanes destroyed many nests in the past few years, bald eagles in Florida still went on to rebuild and restructure their nests. Florida is known to have one of the densest concentrations of nesting bald eagles in all lower 48 states.

There is an estimated 1500 nesting pairs within the state, which is a 9% increase from where the nests were at in 2008.

Since 1972, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has monitored the population of nesting bald eagles, as they were protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

In 2007 and 2008, the bald eagle was officially removed from the USFWS endangered species list and the FWC imperiled species list, as the population continued to grow.
