If you’re looking for a lovely little spot with miles of trails and plenty of peace and quiet in the heart of Delaware, head to Blackbird State Forest. This serene patch of woods offers miles of lightly-trafficked trails and gorgeous scenery all year long. You can even camp here any time of year!
Blackbird State Forest is one of Delaware's most underrated natural wonders. You could wander the woods here for miles and never cross your own path!
This enchanting forest is beautiful in all seasons. Bundle up and check it out under a fresh blanket of snow to really feel peaceful solitude that comes with the silence of an early winter morning.
The forest features more than just trees, and part of what makes it so magical is that you'll have so much time to explore it all. Follow the creek, and see where it leads you!
You'll discover a hidden pond deep in the forest, too. It's the perfect place to have a picnic or just relax and listen to the frogs croaking in the spring, summer, and fall.
The campgrounds at Blackbird State Forest are primitive and offer no shower facilities. You will find on-site parking, fire rings, picnic tables, grills, and chemical toilets in the campground. There are only eight sites in the forest and you can make a reservation on the Delaware State Forest Camping website.
