As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Even if you don’t drink beer, chances are that you love the Dogfish Head brand just for their unique, off-centered personality that takes over their brewery and pub in Rehoboth Beach and Milton. Dogfish Head’s logo is instantly recognizable to anyone from the First State! Recently, on a road trip through the south, I ran into Dogfish Head at a side-of-the-road BBQ restaurant in Alabama, and I was SO excited to see a little reminder of home. A lot of Delawareans don’t realize that beyond their restaurant and brewery, Dogfish Head actually owns a beautiful Inn in Lewes, just minutes from the beach and Cape Henlopen State Park. Their Inn is truly the most unique hotel in Delaware!
The Dogfish Inn is the former site of the landmark Vesuvio Hotel.
You'll find the Lightship Overfalls, waterfront dining, a beautiful beach, and a boat/kayak launch within walking distance. Lewes is perhaps the most charming town in Delaware, so the Dogfish Inn is in the best location possible.

Each room is unique - but they all have one thing in common.
One local artist, Steve Rogers, painted the Lighthouse Overfalls in a different place in each room. How quickly can you find yours? While you're looking, you'll notice the mini fridge stocked with Delaware-made snacks and all of the barware you need to enjoy your Dogfish Head brews. And because the beach is so close to your room, Dogfish even provides beach chairs and tote bags to help you on your way.
As long as you're willing to clean up after your dog, they'll let fido stay. With advanced notice, they'll arrange for you to stay in one of their pet-friendly rooms. Two small dogs or one large dog are allowed per room, and if your dog is oversized (80lbs or more), give them a heads up so they can make some special arrangements.
Lawn games and events, plus picnic tables, mean that this is a great place to gather for a friends weekend! Bring your bachelor or bachelorette party to Lewes and stay in the most unique hotel in Delaware for a relaxing beach getaway you won't soon forget.
If you're really lucky, you'll find the S'mores Bar and load up on delicious treats.
Make friends with other guests (or keep to your group if you want) and enjoy chilling by the fire, roasting s'mores and chatting about your day in Lewes. The Dogfish Inn isn't just the most unique hotel in Delaware, it's a grand gathering place that feels more like a summer home than a vacation hotel.
There are so many cool places to stay in Delaware! If you’re looking for another unique hotel in Delaware where you’ll truly be away from it all, check out the Inn at Montchanin Village.
