College students are always warned about the Freshman Fifteen, but I think UD Students need a separate warning about the UDairy Creamery. When I used to visit UD, my friends and I would end up here way more often than we ended up at Pencader, where they served actual food and you know, healthy stuff like fruit. Anyone who’s gotten a cone from UDairy Creamery will understand – and if you haven’t, you need to make it a priority, because this might be the best ice cream in Delaware.
UDairy Creamery is the best thing UD has ever done.
A creation of the University of Delaware's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, UDairy is a unique ice cream shop that's always absolutely packed. If you're an ice cream fan, you've got to visit and try any one of their amazing flavors! You can find the storefront at 535 S College Ave
Newark, DE 19716.
The UDairy Creamery makes ice cream from the cows milked on University of Delaware Farms.
The University of Delaware students have a lot of fun here. If you're lucky, you'll stop in when they're scooping their Mystery Flavor! Be adventurous and give it a try - it's ice cream, after all, so you really can't go wrong.

Of course, they don't just serve plain, boring ice cream.
Throughout the year they run specials, like their unbelievable Ice Cream S'more. Two of my favorite things combined into one - I was in heaven. Forget the new Girl Scout Cookie, this is the true mastering of a campfire treat.
Their Carrot Cake ice cream was my favorite last year - cinnamon praline ice cream with cream cheese frosting swirl AND carrot cake pieces. Perfection in a cup or a cone (or an Easter Egg!).
If you can't get to the storefront, there are a few other places to find UDairy Ice Cream.
The Moo Mobile rolls around campus, delighting students and those who live in Newark pretty frequently. It's like an ice cream truck, but a thousand times better. They also partner with Desserts by Dana, where UDairy Ice Cream is sold and University of Delaware students intern in the Bakery. Campus Markets and the UD Dining Halls sell the stuff, and the Bookstore on Main Street usually has a freezer full. In the fall, you'll find the apple cider donut ice cream at Milburn Orchards. Recently, UDairy announced that their ice cream will be available in Wilmington, too!
The best way to keep up with the various flavors and locations of UDairy Ice Cream is via social media.
It shouldn't be a surprise that a student-run venture is active onFacebook and Instagram! Follow them so you don't miss out on the Moo Mobile locations, new flavors, events and specials that they run.
There are, of course, other places to get Ice Cream in Delaware, but I don’t think any of them stack up to University of Delaware’s UDairy Creamery. What’s your favorite flavor?
