The scenic New Castle County town of Hockessin is one of the best places in the state. From the Wilmington and Western Railroad cars that chug along beside the roadway to the charming picnic grove at the Mt. Cuba Center, this town will make you feel like you're in Mayberry! Be sure to visit during wildflower season for the best time.
Bowers Beach has always been a fishing town, and it never seems to change. Find watermen pulling in oysters every day just like they did when the town was founded, and enjoy serene sunsets from the quiet docks. The Bowers Beach Maritime Museum shows off the best of Delaware Bay history.

Georgetown isn't quite a small town, but its historic downtown is one of the most pleasant places to spend an afternoon. Enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants near the Circle, or plan a full weekend getaway at the Brick Hotel. Just outside of Georgetown, you'll find the oldest General Store in the state. Bridgeville is just about the most "Delaware" town you can think of. From poultry farms to the Rapa Scrapple factory, you don't get any more First State than this! Visit during the Apple Scrapple festival or for Punkin Chunkin.
The entire town of Odessa is on the National Register of Historic Places! Each of the historic district homes has an incredible story, and Odessa residents are happy to share. Fenwick Island is a lot different than Delaware's other bustling, busy beach towns. This smaller, quieter town seems to stay the same year after year — visiting as an adult will take you back to your trips to the coast as a child! Be sure to drive by the Fenwick Island Lighthouse and stroll through the state park trails.
Delaware City is one of the best little towns in Delaware. Walk along the Delaware River on a breezy day, dine along Clinton Street, and visit Fort Delaware State Park for an old-fashioned day in Delaware. Be warned though... it's the most haunted town in Delaware.
