Delaware is a tiny state that’s often dwarfed by nearby cities and is sometimes considered a “drive-over” state, because of its position between New York/Philadelphia and Baltimore/Washington D.C. on I-95. However, when people do stop to think about Delaware, they’ll realize that so many things are tied to memories made in or about the First State. Delaware was the FIRST state to ratify the United States Constitution. Thousands of children learn this fact in grade school each year, and it sticks with them. One of the first things someone from out of state will mention is that Delaware is the first state.
Years before "Uncle Joe" was the Vice President of the country, he was a Delaware politician. He's one of the most recognizable Delawareans in the world.

The Delaware Bay has been producing top-notch oysters for over 200 years. There are two distinct types - the Inner Bay oyster and the Cape Shore oyster. Inner Bay oysters are a little milder, while Cape Shore oysters are briny and sweet.

The du Pont family had a huge impact on American industry and the Wilmington / Philadelphia area. You can still see evidence of their presence today, with tremendous mansions and gardens turned into museums. The du Pont name will be forever tied to their home state, Delaware.
Each year, college students and young adults from nearby states flock to Dewey Beach for its legendary party scene. For many, this is their take on what the Delaware beaches are all about. To many, nothing beats volleyball on the beach followed by a night out on the town.

Since 2012, Firefly Music Festival has brought some of the world's top artists and bands to Dover, Delaware for a weekend of camping, glamping, and rock n roll. The festival has brought thousands of people from the Mid Atlantic region (and the rest of the country!) and helped showcase parts of Delaware that aren't typically encountered on a drive through the state.
