Sunflowers are some of nature’s most impressive flowers – they can grow to be over 10 feet tall, their bright yellow color is incredibly vibrant, they spread rapidly and can take over a large field in just a year, and they even tilt to face the sun as they grow (or so the legendary myth says). If only there were some place to get so close to hundreds of these beautiful plants, where you could see rows and rows of them as far as the eye can see, and truly take in their beauty. Wait! There is! You can find an impressive sunflower field in Delaware on Route 16. Sure, Kansas might be known as the sunflower capital of the United States, but Delaware deserves a spot at the table, too!
Editor’s Note: This field is not yet in bloom as of early July. Before planning a visit, keep in mind that the flowers bloom at slightly different times each year. Your best bet to see the flowers in full bloom is typically late July (the first picture was taken on 7/26/17), but this can vary.
