Did you know that Delaware was once at the bottom of the ocean? If you do a little digging, both through the dunes and through the history books, you’ll find out that much of the sand along Bethany Beach dates back to the Pleistocene era. While Bethany undergoes beach replenishment and not all of the sand is millions of years old, this quiet Atlantic Ocean beach is known for being a great place to look for shark teeth in Delaware.
Bethany Beach is one of Delaware's most serene beach resort towns, known for being family-friendly and quiet most of the year.
These aquatic apex predators did a whole lot of chomping in these seas, and as they grew, chewed, and died, their teeth dropped to the bottom of the ocean floor.
Today, that "ocean floor" is the sand that makes up Bethany Beach, and with a little searching and some luck, you can find prehistoric shark teeth of your own.
What are you waiting for? Head down to Bethany Beach on a mission to dig up some prehistoric shark teeth and you'll have a blast looking for these treasures.
Head to this peaceful beach town to track down shark teeth in Delaware. If you don’t have any luck searching for yourself, you can likely find a few hiding in gift shops downtown.
