Delaware is a TINY state, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have places that truly are the middle of nowhere. Luckily, even if you get stranded in the boondocks of Delaware, you’ll never go hungry. Each of the following restaurants is plopped well off the beaten path, but they’re some of the best rural restaurants in Delaware and you’ll love your journey to track them down.
Both Yellowfin's locations are well of the beaten path, but still, Delawareans flock to these restaurants for tasty grub. Their Tuna Nachos are always a hit, as are the daily specials like shrimp and grits, pictured above.
Address: 33195 Lighthouse Rd, Selbyville, DE 19975
Address: 36908 Silicato Drive, Millsboro, DE 19966
The Store in Gumboro is one of those places that you only find by word of mouth. This middle-of-nowhere kitchen serves up delicious sandwiches and fried chicken. After you eat, stop by the country store next door to pick up something for your home.
Grain H20 replaced the well-loved Aqua Sol in Bear, Delaware, right on the Summit North Marina. This on-the-water restaurant is known for their sandwiches, burgers, and extensive beer list.
The Grill at Back Creek is worth tracking down even if you aren't a golfer! This rural restaurant may have a Middletown address, but the winding roads you take to get there will make you feel like you're miles away. They serve everything from gourmet dishes like surf 'n turf to bar staples like crispy buffalo wings.
Hall's Family Restaurant is a Delaware staple! Their hearty, home cooked dishes will take you back to the good old days. Be sure to save room for dessert - they make some of the best pies and turnovers in Delaware.
Address: 108 N Railroad Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934
Of course, no list of rural restaurants in Delaware would be complete without a mention of the Boondocks, in Smyrna! This crab shack in a cornfield is legendary, but they’re now closed up until Spring. Visit the year-round restaurants above to hold you over!
