If you’re feeling particularly patriotic, there are a handful of spots in the state where you can really experience Old Delaware – it’s like stepping back in time! The New Castle Courthouse was the center of Delaware politics from time it was built in 1732.
Delaware declared independence here - from both Philadelphia and England - and the courthouse was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Now, it's home to one of the best museums in the state.

Historic New Castle is as close to a time machine as you'll find anywhere. Visit the Amstel House, stroll the Green, and see how many statues and historic markers you can find. There are dozens!
