Despite being Delaware’s most developed county, New Castle County is home to some of the most beautiful parks you’ll get to see in this region! The Newark Reservoir is one of the county’s hidden gems, and the walking path around the pond makes for a great sunrise or sunset watching spot all year long.

The Newark Reservoir is 77-acre man-made lake that was built close to the city in the early 2000s.

The pond was completed in 2006 and is a holding spot for water from the nearby White Clay Creek. It was built in response to a major drought in the 1990s, and contains enough water to supply the city for 100 days, in case of emergency.
In addition to being home to the reservoir itself, the property off Paper Mill Road was set aside as a park for locals to enjoy.

Your journey around the shoreline begins with a short uphill stroll, but once you get to the top, you're in for a straight and level path.
