Delaware is full of beautiful small towns – from Lewes right on the Canal to Laurel on Broad Creek. But did you know that one Delaware town was named one of the Most Beautiful Small Towns in America, by Good Housekeeping? While I believe many of our little towns could fit that description, it was the charm of New Castle that won over the magazine. We certainly agree that this Delaware locale is among the best small towns in the U.S. A trip to New Castle, Delaware is filled with beautiful views, friendly people, incomparable history, and of course lots enchanting charm.
The town retains so much of its historic charm that it almost feels like you're stepping into a time machine.
Penn is responsible for much of the history of Delaware, from its founding to the establishment of Delaware as an entirely new state, rather than just the three lower counties.

Today, the park features some of the nicest views in Delaware.
The New Castle County Courthouse is perhaps most famous for being the center of the 12 Mile Circle that defined Delaware's borders back in colonial times. It does hold the title of oldest continuously used chamber of justice in the United States, too. The Museum located in the building is a great place to learn more about the history of this town, and all of the state.
Whether you visit for the history, the scenery or the food, one thing is for certain - New Castle, Delaware is one of the most enchanting towns in the country.
