For decades back in the 1900s, Norman Rockwell captivated us with his paintings and illustrations. He brought us a sense of nostalgia and culture, and the charming little town of New Castle does just that, especially around Christmas time. Through the timely architecture, this Delaware town comes alive with wreaths, red bows, and (if you’re lucky) snow.
There’s something to be said for being the first capital in the first state. New Castle is well known for its colonial buildings and cobblestone streets which present the perfect atmosphere for the holidays.

New Castle Historical Society is an organization in the area whose mission is to preserve the town's history through guided tours and maintaining three museums: The Dutch House, The Amstel House, and The Old Library Museum.
Different winter events are run each year, one of which is The Spirit of Christmas, including a jolly-full day of festivities, crafts, tours of private homes, and free music.

What was once just an old library is now an exhibition room, with a wreath, of course. In 1982 the New Castle Historical Society started leasing the building to create a meeting space, library, and a place to showcase the good ol’ days.
The Old Library Museum hosts historic exhibits throughout the year and is closed somewhat often to prepare for their next exhibit. Stay up to date on the Old Library Museum’s open or closed status here.
