Delaware’s state parks are finally beginning to glow with the colors of autumn! Despite the predictions of lackluster color caused by a wet and warm summer, you can still go leaf-peeping in the First State. Head to Lums Pond State Park to find some of the brightest and most colorful foliage around – and while you’re here, plan to stay awhile.
Lums Pond State Park is one of Delaware's largest parks, and it's most beautiful when the fall color takes over.
Lace up your hiking boots and grab a sweater - it's the perfect time of year to get out and explore the miles of trails and pathways and the nature center, all of which draw thousands of visitors each year.
Even though the park's boat rental service closes up in early October, you can still drop in a kayak or canoe that you bring along and take in the panoramic views from the water.
If you find yourself not wanting to leave, you can even camp here. In the fall, the quiet campgrounds make for an excellent, family-friendly, affordable retreat.
Plan your trip to Lums Pond for hiking and exploring this fall and you won’t be disappointed in the scenery. Visit the park’s website for information about events and a trail map to help guide you on your adventure.
