When Thierry and Nathalie Langer moved from France to Lewes a few years ago, they struggled to find one of their favorite foods – Kaiserschmarrn – anywhere in the United States. Like any good entrepreneurs, they realized that there was a big gap in Delaware’s foodie market, and they opened their Rehoboth Beach cafe, Kaisey’s Delights, in 2015. Since then, the adorable pink shop just off of the Boardwalk has been bustling with customers lured in by the Cafe’s reputation and the unique treat of finding Kaiserschmarrn in Delaware!
This quaint cafe is quickly becoming a Rehoboth Beach landmark.
In a city full of amazing food, it's hard to stand out. Kaisy's Delights went with a bold storefront to attract attention visually, but the real draw for new and inquisitive customers was the samples given in the store or out on the sidewalk. Quickly, many who tried samples became regular customers. You can find Kaisy's Delights at First Street Station 70 Rehoboth Avenue,
Rehoboth Beach, DE . Kaisy's is open year round from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM - meaning you can grab Kaiserschmarrn in Delaware for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Thierry and Nathalie Langer are often behind the counter, dressed in Alpine hats and shirts - and occasionally yodeling.
The decor and staff outfits at Kaisy's Delights make your finding Kaiserschmarrn in Delaware a truly international experience. The history of the dessert is posted on the wall, above dress-up hats that customers use for selfies on social media.
It's sort of a fluffy pancake, mixed with funnel cake, with some raisins and rum added in. Legend has it that a farmer created Kaiserschmarrn when an Austrian nobleman showed up for dinner unexpectedly. The poor farmer shredded the pastry up and topped it with homemade marmalade - and dish was a hit.

Kaisy's - you can see why they shortened the name - are made fresh for every order at Kaisy's Delights.
The Kaisy's batter is poured fresh onto the griddle in a mold, and then shredded right after raisins are added to the batter. The result is a fluffy, moist, and somewhat dense treat that's suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack.
Traditionally, Kaisys are topped with marmalade, and there are several homemade ones to choose from here. Otherwise, fresh fruit, powdered sugar, chocolate and ice cream are some of your other options. You really can't go wrong!
There's more than just Kaiserschmarrn on the menu, too.
You can find their offerings on their menu, or stop in to see what daily specials they are offering. Kaisy's platters are served all day, so you can grab a late breakfast any time. Their sausage is some of the best I've ever had , which shouldn't be a surprise because of the shop's European beginnings.
La Colombe Coffee Roasters coffee is some of the best you can find! Kaisy's Delights brews cup after cup, filling the air with the best smell in the world - Gourmet Coffee and fresh Kaiserschmarrn.
Don't forget to have a little fun at the Selfie Station!
Throw on an Austrian hat and snap a picture - you might find yourself featured on their Facebook page!
So, go ahead and treat yourself to the only Kaiserschmarrn you’ll find in the area! This fluffy treat is unbelievable, and you’ll soon be addicted to the Kaisy’s and the fresh marmalade that you’ll want to pile on top. After just one visit, it will be clear why Kaisy’s made our Top Pancakes in Delaware list, even though it’s not technially a pancake at all.
