Delaware is an old state, with plenty of history to be discovered! One local landmark, Buckley’s Tavern, is a spot that locals have enjoyed for decades. If you’re in the mood for delicious food, head over to this Wilmington tavern that’s packed with tasty dishes and fascinating history.
The building that hosts Buckley's Tavern dates back to 1817, when it was built as a private residence. In the 1930s, it became an ice cream parlor, and in 1951, it opened as Buckley's Tavern.
The gorgeous and vintage architecture of the space will make you feel like you've stepped into a time machine. Guests appreciate the way the tavern blends elegant and casual in a way that makes everyone comfortable.
The food here ranges from gourmet to comfort food, and each bite is better than the last. Try their fish tacos for a treat that will make you feel like you're on vacation!
In a state that's known for its annual Burger Battle, Buckley's Tavern holds its own. Their burgers are enormous, piled high with toppings, and served on perfectly toasted buns.
Even though Buckley's is an upscale, elegant dining spot, they seem to have perfected bar bites. The wings here are packed with flavor and just the right amount of crispy.
Delaware is famous for its blue crabs, and the kitchen at Buckley's turns fresh-from-the-bay crabs into enormous jumbo-lump crab cakes that melt in your mouth.
Try to save room for dessert! Everything at Buckley's is made from scratch. Their seasonally-inspired desserts and gourmet ice cream make for the perfect way to wrap up your meal.
Stop in to dine at Buckley's Tavern and you'll quickly understand why this is a local favorite that's been serving up generations of families for nearly 70 years.
