Delaware’s state parks offer endless recreation options, and one park in Laurel shows off a beautiful and unique pond ecosystem on a breezy loop hike. Walk, jog, or cycle for five miles as you get to know one of the most interesting places in the First State.
Take a hike around Trap Pond to get some fresh air and stretch your legs here in Delaware.
The Loop Trail takes you on a 5-mile journey. Along the way, you can stop for a picnic or sit to take in a panoramic view of one of our signature state ponds.
The miles of trail will take you through forests where you can spot wildlife, native birds, and migratory birds that make their home here in Sussex County.
When you hike around Trap Pond, you'll notice the one-of-a-kind bald cypress trees that grow straight out of the water. This is the largest bald cypress swamp in the region!
