When you’re craving sweets or need to find the best bread in Delaware, head to Serpe & Sons Bakery in Elsmere. There’s a reason this family-owned bakery has been a First State favorite for our whole lives!
Serpe and Sons Bakery has been a landmark in Elsmere, Delaware — just outside of Wilmington — for decades.
When Domenico and Lucille Serpe established the bakery in 1952, they had no idea just how big of an impact their little bake shop would make on Delaware history.
At first, Serpe and Sons specialized just in breads and rolls. It didn't take long for cakes, pastries, and cookies to get added to the operation, and soon after, they followed in the traditional Italian bakery footsteps of adding tomato pie, too.
The business was passed down to Tony, Richie, Tommy, and Dominic - four Serpe sons - after Domenico and Lucille passed away. Today, three third-generation Serpes help run the bakery, too! It's truly a family affair.

Serpe and Sons has been in business for more than 70 years, and that's due to the fact that they take their product and reputation seriously.
Serpe and Sons still makes delicious tomato pies in all sorts of varieties. The classic is hard to beat - but if you want to try something new, the options are there.
Of course, their cannoli are the best in town. No matter what you came in for, it's hard to leave without taking home a dozen to enjoy throughout the week!
All these years later, Serpe and Sons' bread is still the best in town. Many of Wilmington's best restaurants get their rolls here, so join them and take your sandwich or dinner roll game to the next level.
