Delaware’s restaurants scene is seriously underrated. We’ve got world class restaurants, feature award winning chefs, serve up some of the freshest seafood in the country, and know how to have a good time while we’re at it. Still, many people think you need to go to Philadelphia or Baltimore for a truly unforgettable meal. Delawareans know better, though, and we’re happy to brag about our favorite Delaware restaurants. Here are a dozen of our go-to Delaware restaurants when we want to show off a great First State meal to our out of town guests.
If you're looking for a good time out at Trolley Square, head to the Oyster House.
You'll find a rowdy but fun crowd, especially during the buck a shuck happy hours.
This is a great jumping off point to a night in the most fun section of our largest city.
The Dog House is a favorite of people traveling through our State - that is, if they see it! Once you find yourself stopping here for a meal, you'll want to return again and again. Somehow, they make a tiny, cash-only hot dog stand into a destination restaurant!
If you've got a big family or some history buffs in your group,
head to Jessop's in New Castle. This colonial restaurant is one of the only themed spots in Delaware, and you'll enjoy mouthwatering food as you step back in time to the 17th century.
Border Cafe is always a good call, if you love tacos, fajitas, and of course, margaritas.
This lively landmark restaurant is one of the best places to bring out of town guests.
Dover's favorite Delaware restaurant might be 33 West.
It's a cozy bistro that serves up some of the best burgers, soups,
and meals in the state, and you will not be disappointed with whatever you order.
Cool Springs is the place to go if you want fresh seafood without traveling down to the beaches. This hole in the wall spot has been serving up delicious fish dishes for years,
and it's not going anywhere any time soon!
JP's is locatd in the cute town of Bowers Beach, so it's a great spot to take a day trip with out of town guests. Explore the town's maritime museum, walk along the beach, and then head to JP's, where you'll enjoy fresh seafood and land dishes. Be sure to save room for their famous Strawberry pie!
Sully's Irish Pub is a lively spot on Main Street in Middletown that serves up some of the best crab dip in the state! Their crab bisque is famous, too,
so be sure to try a cup.
Abbott's on Broad Creek is the place to dine if you're near Laurel. Their fresh dishes - like the lobster mac and cheese pictured above - will leave you stuffed and satisfied, and you can't beat the view.
The Pickled Pig Pub is a casual spot in Rehoboth Beach where you'll find the best reuben in Delaware. Even if you're not a sandwich person, you'll enjoy everything else on their extensive menu.
Bethany Blues of Lewes makes some of the best wings in the state, and their BBQ is also hard to beat. This is a great place to go with a crowd, and you'll find a long beer list to compliment your dinner of choice.
