Do you ever wish you could talk to animals? Visiting this one Delaware zoo is about as close as you can get! Each resident of 3 Palms Zoo was rescued by the curators and caretakers, and they know their stories and personalities as well as they possibly can! Visiting here is like walking into a wonderland of creatures and critters that are lucky to be alive and safe at this zoo and sanctuary. You can feed the chickens and walk amongst the tortoises. When you’re looking for an adventure like no other, head to Townsend’s 3 Palms Zoo, where you’ll get to meet and socialize with the most interesting critters in all of Delaware.
3 Palms Zoo is one of the most unique places in the entire state of Delaware.
The Zoo is home to rescued exotic animals, and is the only place like it around. The curators of 3 Palms Zoo are heroes to hundreds of animals that have found safety and sanctuary here.
Throughout 3 Palms Zoo, you'll find custom built habitats designed to delight each animal resident.
These gentle giants are the third largest species of Tortoise on earth! As adults, they weigh over 200 lbs. They're tricky to raise, but they seem happy as can be at this Delaware zoo!

As you explore the Zoo, you'll get to meet all of the residents and learn their stories.
Shylo was surrendered by an owner after realizing that keeping a pet fox was quite a challenge. The other fox in Shylo's habitat, Princess, is partially blind and cannot be released into the wild.
Ivan the Alpaca is a playgul guy! You'll catch him splashing in his water trough on a hot day.
Ivan is a Suri Alpaca who was surrendered from a Millsboro family. Though they cared for him well, they were facing health problems and wanted to ensure he would have a great life.
Sienna, the eastern screech owl, is quite a pretty girl!
She has permanent nerve damage to her left foot, so she can't catch live prey like a wild owl. The Zoo has developed a way to ensure she eats properly, but she's got a home here for life.

Rose the Raccoon is another visitor favorite. Her attention-seeking antics will have you laughing for days.
Rosie came to 3 Palms Zoo on a holiday weekend. She was an orphaned raccoon kit who had been heavily imprinted by human feeding. Sweet Rosie would have been a danger to herself and to humans if she was released, so she's been allowed to stay with the kind folks at 3 Palms Zoo.
Perhaps no resident of this Delaware Zoo is more famous than Tik-Tok.
Tik-Tok was the first alligator in Delaware. He was rescued from a home where he was an illegal pet. Shortly after, Mr. Smee joined Tik-Tok, and since then, 3 Palms Zoo has been instrumental in helping to rehome illegally kept gators in the Delmarva area.
No matter when you visit 3 Palms Zoo, you'll find a reason to say hi to Dominic the Donkey.
Dominic is pretty much this Delaware zoo's mascot, because everyone falls in love with his goofy personality and hilariously long ears. Be sure to say hi to him!
You can find 3 Palms Zoo at 1060 Vandyke Greenspring Road, Townsend, DE 19734. Their normal hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last tickets being sold at 4 p.m.. Tickets are just $5 per person in a family, or $10 for an individual. Your admission includes bamboo to feed the animals, and you can interact with any critter not surrounded by a yellow chain fence. Additional donations are always welcome, as the zoo can always use some help caring for, feeding, sheltering and rescuing animals.
When you’re looking for unique encounters with creatures and critters, Delaware is the place to go. After your adventure at 3 Palms Zoo, try birdwatching at one of the country’s best wildlife refuges, where you’ll find the most incredible birds around.
