If you spend enough time driving through the First State, you’ll spot plenty of strange sights. These 8 Delaware roadside attractions are each worth a stop, so be sure to check them out next time you’re on the road!
1. Old Mill Giant Crab, Delmar
The giant crab outside of the Old Mill Crab Shack might be the most "Delaware" thing on this list! Everyone stops to get a picture with these giant claws when they come in for a feast.
2. World War II Towers on our beaches
These towers date back to World War II, when they were built to help keep a look out for German U-Boats. Today, many of them are still standing, and you can even climb to the top of one in Cape Henlopen State Park.
3. Giant Doctor Bag at Apex Medical Center
This is a quirky sight you can spy from Route 7 in Newark! It's just around the corner from Delaware Park and worth stopping by to see if you're in the area.
4. Cannonball House, Lewes
A cannonball from the British army is still lodged in the walls of this historic home, which serves as the Lewes Historical Society headquarters.
5. Indian River Inlet Bridge
The gorgeous Charles Cullen bridge is a landmark along the Indian River Inlet. It's one of the most famous architectural wonders in Delaware!
6. Futuro House, Milton
You'll find a strange aircraft at the end of the Eagle Crest Airport runway! This Futuro House is a modular home that was built in the 1970s, and it's one of the only ones left in the country.
7. Miles the Monster
Miles the Monster is known as the world's largest monster! He stands high above the entrance to Dover Downs International Speedway, which is nicknamed the Monster Mile.
8. Propeller From the USS Shangri-La, in front of Meding and Son's Seafood
Delaware's seafood shacks sure love their strange decorations! This propeller from the USS Shangri-La brings attention to this seafood market and restaurant, and you can see it from the road!
