As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Fall is my favorite time to get away. I love looking at the foliage, curling up beside a campfire, making s’mores and honestly, I love the fact that when summer is over, crowds go away. After all, if I’m going on a vacation, I want it to be relaxing and peaceful.
If you’re similar to me, you’re in luck. It’s not too late to book one of the best fall getaways in Delaware – the Resort at Massey’s Landing, outside of Millsboro. It’s hard to find and it’s pretty isolated, so you might have to consult a few maps to find the place. If you’re looking for an affordable, luxurious spot to hole up for a few crisp fall days, this is your place. With RV sites, primitive sites, and (my favorite) luxury cottages, you’ll find what you need here to stay for a comfortable and unique Delaware resort experience.
The Resort at Massey's Landing is between Rehoboth Bay and the Indian River Bay.
The Resort at Massey's Landing takes "outdoor hospitality" to an entirely new level, with amenities and luxuries you would expect at top-rated vacation destinations. Because it is brand new, everything is in excellent condition.
You can always bring your RV to one of their spacious RV sites, or rent a luxury cottage. They also offer 8 primitive campsites, some of which are paddle-in.

The cottages turn camping into "glamping," for sure.
Whether you opt for a waterfront or interior cottage, you'll be able to experience an outdoorsy vacation without missing the comforts of home. Where else can you camp with a fully equipped kitchen, full bath, furnished living room with cable TV, wireless Internet, heat and air conditioning? Two of the cottages are ADA accessible, so be sure to talk to the resort about any special accommodations you may require.
The cottages are also pet friendly, which is an amazing feature for those of us who have a hard time finding a long-term pet sitter.
Plus, when you bring your pet, they're treated to a vacation, too. The resort provides their Massey’s Mutt treat bowl and VIP (Very Important Pet) package. All pet-friendly units will include a $10 per night, per pet cleaning fee. They do limit pets to one large dog or 2 small dogs.
They sleep seven, so you can bring a crowd to share your cabin. You can bring your own linens, or upgrade to the Linen Package. You can also choose to add a mid-week cleaning, if you're staying for a full week.
This Delaware resort also offers Waterfront "Super Sites."
They're extra large sites with waterfront views. You'll enjoy your own private tiki hut on a paved patio, a deluxe fire pit, a grill and picnic table, and traditional picnic games such as horseshoes and corn hole.
If you book for the summer, you'll also be able to enjoy the resort's pool!
Of course the ultimate Delaware resort would have a private pool! It's also sectioned off into family and adults-only sections, so if you prefer to relax in a quiet area, you don't have to worry about getting in the way of a game of Marco, Polo.

The location on both Bays makes this resort a great choice for kayakers and explorers.
You can paddle up and down the bays on your kayak, stand-up paddleboard, canoe... pretty much anything you can think of. If you're a true outdoorsman, you may be interested in the primitive, paddle-in sites - you'll still have access to the pool, camp store, coffee shop and other amenities offered to each guest.
There are only a few weeks left to take your Delaware resort trip this year, so hurry up and book now!
Massey's Landing closes for the year in November, and will open again early in 2017. While most people think of a waterfront resort as a summer trip, snagging a cabin or campsite during the fall will lead to bonfires, s'mores, ghost stories and a much quieter, more peaceful environment. This is the ideal time to try one of the best resorts in Delaware.
So, hurry up and call Massey’s at 302-947-2600, or check out their website, where you can read more about their accommodations or book online. If you’re looking for a fall getaway but can only escape your busy life for one day at a time, you might want to read about the charming town in Delaware that makes for the best fall day trip.
