Delawareans are the best kind of people – from our small towns to our largest city, you’ll find the kindest people of all inhabiting the First State. We’re generally easy going, like we’re transplated southerners in the busy northeast. However mellow we might be, there are a few things that you’ll never catch us doing, such as the following:

1. Pass up Swamp Water in the summer.

No matter how far you are from Boondocks Restaurant, you'll never hear a Delawarean pass up a chance to pick crabs and drink Swamp Water on a nice summer night.
2. Pay Sales Tax.

We hate shopping out of state because we've got to do math to figure out the price of the things we're trying to buy. Catch up, USA, and drop that whole sales tax nonsense.
3. Make a pot of chicken and round dumplings.

No thanks. Slippery Dumplings, or I'd rather starve. This Delmarva delicacy is just not the same when the dumplings are doughy and round.
4. Head out of state for a beach.

6. Head down to Ocean City, Maryland for... anything.

We don't even need to head south for Thrashers, as the locations at the Delaware beaches are just as good as the legendary original spot.
7. Diss Delaware's Seafood.

We know that Maryland's crabcakes are world famous, but Delaware restaurants whip up some of the better ones in the region, too. And because you aren't paying for the Maryland name, they tend to be more affordable, and the best ones are found at little hole in the wall restaurants in the First State.
8. Hate on the DuPonts.

The DuPont family impacted the state of Delaware in tremendous ways - from the incredible mansions to the highway system, we've got a lot to thank them for.
