The statue of Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett is titled "Unwavering Courage in the Pursuit of Freedom", and it truly is a perfect name. Tubman and Garrett worked hand-in-hand along the Underground Railroad to bring slaves through Delaware and into free territory, where they could begin to search for a better life.

Paul Revere gets all the press, but Delawareans know it was Caesar Rodney who conquered the most testing ride of the American Revolution. Rodney rode 70 miles through a thunderstorm on the night of July 1st, 1776, arriving in time for the July 2nd vote in his boots and spurs, breaking a deadlock vote for Delaware's addition to the Declaration of Independence. This Revolutionary hero has his own plaza and statue in the heart of Wilmington.

Kent County Veterans Memorial Park is a sight to see. This impressive collection of Delaware monuments and memorials includes tributes to all those lost in major wars, as well as a monument to Gold Star Mothers, and a Vietnam-era Huey Helicopter. It's a sombering sight, but it's one you must see.

This Fort marks the spot where Swedish and Finnish Settlers docked the Kalmar Nyckel and stepped foot into Delaware for the first time. Their original settlement was called Fort Christina, and today, a gorgeous monument exists right along the very wharf where they landed.
