Great food, great beaches and the best ice cream in the state all combine in one location on the Delaware Bay to create a perfect, charming town. Thousands flock here each summer to enjoy one of the best summer road trip destinations. Of course we’re talking about Lewes, Delaware, where you can access beautiful beaches from Cape Henlopen State Park while also exploring the incredible World War II remnants at Fort Miles, climb the WWII Observation Towers, and enjoy breathtaking views of the lighthouse out on the point. There’s so much to do in Lewes on any given day that you’ll make the entire family happy. Check out some of what Lewes has to offer.
It's hard to beat the town of Lewes when it comes to charm and waterfront amenities!
If you'd like to get out on the water, you'll find something for you! Fishing charters, sightseeing and whale watching tours, and even the Cape May-Lewes Ferry launch from this town to take you out on the beautiful Delaware Bay.
Bethany Blues makes the best BBQ in town, and they also make a killer burger (above). You can find them on Rt 1 just past where it meets with Rt 9 (18385 Coastal Highway, Lewes).

If Italian is more your thing, Casa Amici at Rt 9 and Rd 268A can't be beat. (33711 Rd 268A, Lewes)
If you're looking for a craft brew, stop by Crooked Hammock Brewery for a tour and a tasting. The craft brewery is located at 36707 Crooked Hammock Way in Lewes.
And of course, we couldn't forget Hopkin's Farm Creamery. It's a little further from the downtown area, but this creamery off of Rt 9 might have the best ice cream in the state. It's all homemade - no, wait, farm made - and you'll swear you've died and gone to sweet tooth heaven! (18186 Dairy Farm Rd, Lewes)
The history at Fort Miles will amaze you. Who knew how important our little state was in World War II?
Beyond the actual beautiful, charming town, you can find out so much about Delaware history from the surrounding State Park. Read more about the hidden wonders that await you in Fort Miles at Cape Henlopen State Park.
