From the park to the beach is about three miles so it is definitely walkable, however, if you are hauling your gear it might be better to drive or pack up a bike carrier and bike to the beach. Of the beaches in the area (Bethany, Rehoboth, and Dewey) the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park is less busy with better parking options so it is the hidden gem of beaches in the area.

Cape Henlopen State Park is a mostly dog-friendly park as long as your dog is on a leash. The camping areas and certain pet-friendly areas of the beach are open for dogs. However, the swimming beach and boardwalk are prohibited to dogs during the summer months, May through September.
