Nothing says summer quite like a burger fresh off the grill, topped with melted cheese, bacon, and a variety of condiments. If that sounds like your ideal meal, plan to attend the 2019 Delaware Burger Battle and sample the state’s most mouthwatering burger creations during an afternoon that every foodie will absolutely love.
The eighth annual Delaware Burger Battle will be held Saturday, August 24 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Rockford Park. Get your tickets ASAP - you don't want to miss out!
You can expect some of the region's finest restaurants, bars, and grills to show off at the 2019 Burger Battle. This serious competition really brings out local creativity.
Every year, more restaurants throw their hat in the ring, hoping to be crowned burger champion of Delaware. This year, will it be someone new, or a defending champion?
Since 2012, the Delaware Burger Battle has welcomed 51 restaurants and served 24,000 burgers. All proceeds for the event go straight to charity to help fight hunger in the First State.
Some Delaware landmarks have won awards every time they've competed - like the Chelsea Tavern, which took home a coveted Critic's Choice award in 2015 and 2018, and the People's Choice in 2016.
Redfire Grill's signature maple pepper bacon makes it a strong contender for the crown. They have taken home Critic's Choice awards in 2013 and 2017, and People's Choice awards in 2014 and 2018.
The variety of burgers presented, as well as the creativity of the toppings and ingredients, makes this the perfect festival for any carnivore or foodie to attend.
Delaware's local wineries, breweries, distillers, and mead-makers show up in full force, helping attendees wash down their burgers with locally made beverages.
In the end, champions will be crowned! Trophies are awarded for Critic's Choice, People's Choice, and Best Alternative Burger. This food-fueled afternoon is the tastiest festival in Delaware.
If you can’t quite make the Festival, be sure to plan a trip to visit Redfire Grill anyway. This restaurant is a defending champion thanks in part to the best bacon you will ever try.
