Are you on a mission to track down the best attractions in Northern Delaware? Plan a day at the Brandywine Zoo! If you visit during the winter, admission is waived, making it the perfect outing for your whole family to enjoy.
The Brandywine Zoo is one of the top attractions in Northern Delaware, and through the winter, it's completely free to visit.
Wait - free?! Yup! Through March 31st, 2021, you can spend a day walking among the animals without spending a penny. The reduced price is offered because some of the animals are less active in the wintertime.
You'll still have plenty to see, even if you visit on a chilly day. After all, goats don't care if the wind picks up! They're happy to jump, climb, play, and beg for snacks in any weather.
The Zoo's Capybara, Candace, is one of their most popular residents. With some luck, you might hear her chrip, growl, or bark!
Squeakers, the Florida Bobcat, doesn't really mind the cold. She does like to hide high up on her shelf, so she might be hard to spot at first. Did you know Delaware is the only state without wild bobcats?
Be sure to say hello to Peanut, one of the Zoo's two North American Porcupine. These spikey critters are remarkably friendly! The other resident porcupine, Juniper, is used for animal ambassador events.
Sherman and Mohu are the two red pandas, and this pair is so much fun to watch!
When you visit the Brandywine Zoo this winter, you'll be able to see so many reptiles, mammals, amphibians and invertebrates. It's truly like going on a safari, right here in the First State!
Programs may be limited this year due to COVID restrictions, but they're still running virtual events to educate and celebrate their amazing animal family. Check out the Zoo's
event page here for more information
After you spend some time at the Zoo, you’ll understand exactly why it’s consistently named one of the best attractions in Northern Delaware!
