If you’re looking for a peaceful and scenic way to spend the day, gas up the car and head out on this beautiful Delaware drive. The Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway is only about 12.25 miles, but you can easily spend all day exploring. Along the way, you’ll travel from the city of Wilmington, up Route 52 (also known as the Kennett Pike) and back down Route 100, Montchanin Road.
Start your journey in Wilmington, at Rodney Square. Situated in front of the Hotel DuPont, this historic spot is named after a Delaware Revolutionary hero.
As you head out of Wilmington, you'll encounter Delaware's Chateau Country. You'll love the views as you peek out the window and take in the rolling hills and estate views.
The whimsical gardens of Winterthur are worth a stop, too. This 1,000-acre museum and botanical garden is one of the most beautiful places in Delaware.
In the fall, the stunning colors of foliage light up the byway, and you'll want to pull over for a picture when you pass by Brandywine Creek State Park.
Learn more about the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway by heading to the Visit Delaware site, here. You can take a look at all of the attractions along the way and plan out the perfect day trip drive.
