Delaware is known for being a big producer of ice cream. While we aren’t home to the Ice Cream Capital of the World (thanks, Iowa), we’re sure home to some mighty fine dairies and creameries. One of the oldest in the state, Vanderwende Creamery, is still making some of the best ice cream in Delaware since they opened up their farm 65 years ago.
Vanderwende Creamery is a family-run dairy located in Bridgeville, Delaware. This third-generation farm started with just $35 and six cows in 1954...
The Vanderwende Farm ice cream is some of the best you'll ever try. Their seasonal flavors take advantage of local produce, and their cows are milked right on site. You can't get any fresher.
In addition to seasonal and locally inspired flavors, you can also pick up all of your favorites at Vanderwende. Personally, I go for mint chocolate chip almost every single time I'm there!
Take a trip down to Vanderwende Creamery this year, either as a day trip or on your way to the beaches. It will be one destination that you're sure to fall in love with.
Vanderwende Creamery is located at 4003 Seashore Highway, Bridgeville, DE. They’re open Monday, Tuesday Thursday and Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m, and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their two seasonal stores are located at 8374 Hickman Road, Greenwood, DE, and 23 Bellevue Street, Dewey Beach, DE. All farm and store hours change seasonally, so be sure to check their website for more information.
