Over the past few years, it’s become harder and harder to track down fresh, homemade donuts in Delaware. Several longstanding bakeries have shut their doors, and even the newbies are having a hard time staying open. While it’s a great loss to the Delaware donut community, we are lucky that there are still a few old fashioned bakeries where you can find the best donuts in Delaware. Skip the chain shops and head out on this Delaware donut day trip to track them down.
Head out on the Delaware Donut Day Trip for the sweetest adventure you can take.
There are three stops you have to make here: Dutch Country Donuts, Mini Donuts, and Stoltzfus Bakery. All three shops are known for making fresh donuts right out of the oven, and you may have to wait if there's a line. The Pennsylvania Dutch shops are only open on Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m, so plan your day trip accordingly.

Then, head over to Newark, where you'll find Duck Donuts on Main Street.
While Duck Donuts may be a small chain, don't discount their tasty treats. You'll customize your donuts by picking a glaze, a drizzle, and toppings. You'll be amazed at what you can create here! For a treat that balances sweet and savory, try the maple bacon donut.
A&R Bakery has been making some of the most delicious hand baked donuts in the state for years. Try one of their fresh chocolate donuts, a jelly donut, or an old fashioned classic. You'll love them!
Laurel Coffee Shop is the penultimate stop on your Delaware donut day trip.
Laurel is a great place to grab a local coffee and a hearty meal to go alongside your homemade donut. You can really tell they're homemade, and if you're lucky, they'll still be hot from the oven by the time you arrive.
The Point is one of Rehoboth Beach's best coffee shops, and their homemade donuts are one reason this place is so loved. Try something traditional, or treat yourself to something truly outrageous. You'll love their creations.
