Are there trails in Battery Park?
Old New Castle Battery Park features the aptly named Battery Park Trail, which is fully paved, around five feet wide, and perfect for either walking or bicycling. The 3.7-mile long out-and-back trail meanders alongside the Delaware River, and you’ll find plenty of benches and picnic tables along the route where you can stop and rest - or just pause to take in the beautiful views. New Castle is an excellent roadtrip destination, with historic architecture, lovely river views, cobblestone streets, and a walkable downtown bursting with charm. Visit the historic district and drop by the New Castle Court House Museum, built in 1732, for a look at New Castle’s roots. Take a step further back in time when you eat at Jessop’s Tavern, a colonial style restaurant where the decor resembles that of the 1700s, and the waitstaff even dress up in colonial-era attire. The restaurant building itself is three centuries old! And be sure to visit New Castle at Christmastime for an extra festive experience, complete with street performances.
