When you spend time in downtown Dover, it can be easy to forget about the rural areas located just outside of the city. Forget the hustle and bustle of life on the green and head out to tour the Amish country outside of Dover on the annual Delaware Amish Country Bike Tour, this September 8th, beginning at 8 a.m..
Dover's Amish country is home to thousands of Amish men, women, and children in hundreds of households, often on farms of large plots of land.
The gorgeous flatlands and farmlands of Delaware's Amish country are on display as cyclists casually ride through some of Delaware's most underappreciated landscape.
Each loop offers a rest at the Pie Stop at the Amish Schoolhouse, where the famous Amish pies are offered to cyclists. This is the highlight of the ride for many!
You'll find pleny of other food and snack stops along the way, and after the ride, cyclists are treated to a picnic!
The annual Amish Country Bike Tour is an event that takes the area by storm at the end of every summer, and it’s a blast for those who love to participate or just cheer on the riders. If you’re ready to hit the road, you’ll want to register in advance, and you can do that online here.
