Daylight Savings Time has come and passed which means winter is on its way! This year, there are plenty of gorgeous winter attractions you can visit in DC but we found the most magical one of all. Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is the best enchanting winter walk near DC that you need to visit.
Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is in Vienna, Virginia about 40 minutes away from DC. It's a gorgeous place every other day of the year.
But during winter, something truly magical happens. The entire garden becomes a glistening magical winter wonderland.
The park is decorated with thousands of lights. It takes the staff at the gardens months to set up the lights every year.
The walk is a 0.6 miles long and on it, you will find many different lighted themes and scenes.
There are some scenes that are tradition like the Holiday Nature Walk and the Fountain of Lights.
And there are new displays every year so no matter how many times you've visited Meadowlark, there is always something new and interesting.
Many of the displays are animated. Bees flit around a hive in the flower garden, a squirrel shakes his tail in a tree, and frogs jump in a light-filled stream.
If you want to warm up, head into the Snowflake Shoppe for some holiday shopping. Or grab a cup of hot cocoa or hot cider near the fire pit. You can also roast s'mores and enjoy light snacks!
Meadowlark's Winter Walk of Lights opens this weekend on November 10th and is open through January 7th. You can buy tickets at the door but since they sell out, you should purchase in advance.
This is one of the best attractions in DC so be sure not to miss it!
