DC is chock full of fantastic restaurants. We have little Mom and Pop shops and fine dining restaurants all over town. There’s one place that is unique all on its own and you have to try it. OKI Bowl and Sake is the most whimsical restaurant in Washington DC and you need to eat there soon.
OKI Bowl is located at 1817 M St NW, just north of Dupont Circle. Look out for the sign because you might just miss the door.
Head down the steps and enter into an offbeat whimsical world of birdhouses, trees, baskets and quirkiness.
Take your time examining the decor on the walls and ceilings because it’s all so detailed that you might find something new each time you come in.
In the middle of the restaurant, there’s a silver scrapyard tree that snakes out to the ceiling where instead of leaves or flowers, there are baskets hanging from the ceiling.
Grab a seat near the illuminated OKI sign by the door or take a seat at the bar and sit back and prepare to enjoy an epic meal.
Ramen has been a hot food trend in DC over the last few years and OKI has it’s own take on the Japanese favorite.
They have four rice and four noodle-based ramen dishes on the menu. Each has its own unique twist and style. The Curry Ramen is by far one of the most popular items on the menu.
They also have an array of appetizers such as potstickers, edamame, fried season spicy seaweed and shrimp sumai.
If you like a drink with your ramen, they offer microbrews, wines and, of course, sake.
Don’t forget to ask your server to snap your photo to commemorate your visit and live on the wall with the rest of the OKI lovers.
OKI is open seven days a week. During the week, it’s open from 11:30am to 10pm and on the weekends, it’s open from 5pm to 3am.
Come hungry and bring your camera because you will love this one of a kind restaurant in DC!
