DC is a government town, which means there are rules and regulations all over the place. Some of them make sense and some of the don’t. However there are a few rules that we all follow, no matter where you work or where you are from or how long you are here. These are the 11 unofficial DC rules.

1. You never avoid political conversations. In fact, you bring them up.

4. You always stand on the right side of the escalator and walk on the left.

5. You have a go-to restaurant, coffee shop, and bar that you frequent.

In fact, there are probably plenty of Smithsonian museums you have never been to because you want to stay away from The Mall. The exception to this may be visiting the Monuments at night.
