Most people come to DC for two reasons: history and politics. It’s what we’re really known for here. And if you want a dining experience that really showcases both of those things, along with incredible food and fascinating art, you need to head to Lincoln Restaurant. This restaurant offers an unforgettable setting and a memorable meal. Located at 1110 Vermont Ave. NW, Washington, DC, the Lincoln is a masterpiece of art, interior design and culinary delights.
In this political town, you know you will hear about some presidents and the history of the country. But in Lincoln Restaurant, you are quite surrounded by it.
From the outside, you might not even notice the building is a restaurant. Once you enter, you'll see an iconic design from local DC artist Maggie O’Neill. The design was recognized by DC Modern Luxury Magazine as the Best New Restaurant Design of 2011.
The entire interior has many other funky attributes from floor to ceiling.
Once inside, you will probably notice one of the most memorable pieces of the entire restaurant: the floor. It’s a tiled floor made up of over one million pennies.
The rooms are lit by mason jar lights hanging from the ceiling.
There is a lighted wall on one side of the restaurant with script acknowledging the life of restaurant’s namesake.
Pop art images of the famous president line the walls, looking down at diners as they eat.
O’Neill even created a custom oversized white leather chair that was inspired by Lincoln’s at his memorial.
Even the bathrooms are ornate and unique.
In fact, the men’s bathroom is quite, uh, memorable.
There is also a beautiful patio area for outdoor dining in the warmer months.
And of course, there’s more to Lincoln than just the decor. The menu is full of delicious American style small plates.
The menu features fresh ingredients form local sources and also includes some of Abraham Lincoln’s famous food, such as oysters and chicken fricassee.
The Lincoln is open 11am to midnight Monday through Wednesday, 11am-2am, Thursday through Friday, 5pm to 2am on Saturday and 10:30am to 9pm on Sunday. Visit their website for more information
