In summer in DC, you can be sure of one two things; the first is the humidity and the second is tourists. Humidity tends to leave us in the fall but the tourists never really do. Let’s face it, sometimes it can be hard to find places that aren’t as jam-packed and crowded. But we did some work for you and found the best underrated attractions in DC!
Dumbarton Oaks is a truly gorgeous mansion in Georgetown with acres and acres of incredible gardens that anyone can come and tour. 1703 32nd St NW, Washington, DC 20007
We don’t know why the National Arboretum is a hidden gem but it is. It’s one of the best places to feel like you’re escaping the city while still in the city. You can relax exploring acres of fields and flowers. 3501 New York Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002.

Most people don’t realize that tucked within the shops of Georgetown is the oldest house in Georgetown. Come in for a tour and to see the lovely gardens out back. Be forewarned though, that the house is reportedly haunted. 3051 M St NW, Washington, DC 20007

The recently revitalized Yards Park is a perfect place to spend an afternoon. It’s surrounded by delicious restaurants, runs right next to the river and has plenty of green space for lounging. 355 Water St SE Washington, DC 20003
