In 1947, a cozy little restaurant and bar opened in Washington’s Capitol Hill district. As many different members of Congress and Senators have come and gone, the Tune Inn is still here and it’s a DC favorite. The Tune Inn reopened after a fire several years ago but it has stayed true to its roots and still feels the same as it did in the 1940s. Step into this timeless restaurant in DC.
The Tune Inn was opened in the 1940s by Joe Nardelli. Today his granddaughter Lisa runs and owns the restaurant. The attitude has stayed the same: everyone is welcome at the Tune Inn.
And speaking of your meal, if you love comfort food, then you will love dining at The Tune Inn. Their menus full of filling meals like the Beer battered hamburger, huge sandwiches and french fries.
With its close proximity to the Capitol, the Tune Inn is known for its regular visitors of political elite. But they aren’t the only ones who have enjoyed the Tune Inn. The Food Networks’ Diners, Drive Ins and Dives featured The Tune Inn a few years ago. Guy Fieri was a big fan of the restaurant’s satisfying delights.
In 2011, a fire damaged the Tune Inn and they had to close for several months. The interior was restored to almost pristine condition. They even restored the animals on the walls.
Tune Inn is located at 331 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington DC 20003 between 3rd Street and 4th Street. They are open from 8am until 2am during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays they stay open until 3am.
