Living in DC can be a bit stressful. There’s the high cost of living, awful traffic and there are so many tourists. We’re not saying living in DC is not great, because it is. However, there are some things we really need to help us survive. These are the 10 things people in Washington DC can’t live without.
The metro is the easiest way to get around and us Washingtonians do not have the time to be getting one trip cards every day. Instead we rely on handy SmartTrip cards to get us around.
DC is a prime spot for delicious seafood. We are able to enjoy delicious crabs from Maryland, oysters from the Chesapeake, along with so many other delicious seafood dishes that you can find all over DC!

Because you can’t have seafood in DC without Old Bay. You shouldn’t even try!

DC’s weather can be tricky and we spent quite a bit of time dashing around DC on foot or on bike so it’s always handy to have an umbrella around.
Whether we are celebrating their wins or complaining about their losses, we are a little bit lost in between seasons without our sports team. Luckily we have a team for every season here!

We are a bit spoiled when it comes to things to do. We have many options to choose from and luckily, many of them are free! Whether it’s a free movie on the Mall, free entrance to a museum or a free festival every weekend, we love our free events here.

We know that almost every city and state does brunch but does any place do it as well as DC? We couldn’t imagine a beautiful weekend without a long, decadent brunch in one of our favorite neighborhoods.

DC just would not be the same without the gorgeous cherry blossoms that pop every spring. We would love to complain about all the tourists who come to see this gorgeous display of nature but we can’t because we love the season so much.
And of course, we are so lucky to enjoy each season here in DC. From hot summer days to beautiful fall foliage, gorgeous snow falls and flower-filled springs, we get to enjoy it all here!
No matter what quirks and oddities exist in DC, we are still proud to call it home.
