DC is full of hidden gems. Washingtonians know that hiding within neighborhoods and among tourist attractions are some of the best places that really make DC what is. And some of those hidden gems are actually hiding inside of another place. Like the tiny cafe in Dupont Circle that is hiding inside of a bookstore! If you haven’t visited Kramerbooks & Afterwords yet, you need to add it to your list.
Kramerbooks is a local favorite that has been in DC since 1976. From the outside, it looks like every other bookstore in the district.
They have a huge selection of books. You can find everything from the latest bestseller to lesser known nonfiction books, children’s books and so much more. You can spend hours browsing through the shelves.
But as you walk deeper and deeper into the store, you will stumble into something else. You’ll find the cutest little restaurant hiding right inside the store!
The bookstore and restaurant serve early birds and night owls! They open at 7:30am daily and are open until 1:00am on the weekdays and 3:00am on the weekends.
It’s a perfect place to come for an event, to browse the latest selections or enjoy a fantastic meal. The best part is, you can do all of that without ever leaving the store!
