How many people know that there is a hidden horse park in DC? Not many! Tucked away deep in Rock Creek Park, there is a horse stable that’s open to the public for trail rides and lessons! Take a peek at Rock Creek Horse Center, the amazing hidden horseback riding trail in DC!
Rock Creek Horse Center is one of the most peaceful places in DC. It’s a quiet little stable where you can enjoy horses and nature.
The horse center has plenty to offer visitors. They offer riding lessons for all ages from child to adult.
You can take a group class or private lessons. Lessons range from beginners to advanced riders.
The center also offers one hour trail rides during the warmer months. The trail rides follow the beautiful wooded trails around the park.
During trail rides, you'll be treated to a peaceful ride where you might spot wild animals along the route. Afterwards you can tour the barns and see how the horses are groomed and cared for.
Trail rides are for ages 12 and over. But for smaller children, there are pony rides available! Pony rides are 10-15 minutes long and available for children ages 2 and a half and up.
The horse center also holds special events throughout the year including the Eggstravaganza in the spring, Pony Adventure Time in the summer, Pumpkin Pony Rides in the fall and Reindeer Pony Rides in the winter.
Rock Creek Horse Center is in Rock Creek Park at 5100 Glover Road. They are open throughout the year, Monday-Friday from 10am to 6pm and from 9am to 5pm on the weekends.
